The Hunger for Success

by Kais Blah.

We are all hungry for a successful life.

In this intriguing search for contentment and happiness in life, we’re all the same; we are all hungry for a successful life—or at least we should.

You can’t blame, judge, or condemn anyone just because they’re working to be successful. The hunger for success is sincere, and everyone has the right to live a satisfactory life.

Is it?

Some might disagree with this assertion. Maybe because they have heard enough of those commandments. They have heard enough claims about how life should and shouldn't be.

What is a successful life anyway?

But it is certain that despite our insensitivity to the urge to work on our happiest life, there are still basic rights that we tend to forget about. We have built societies where the essentials of life are not guaranteed—a shelter to sleep the night under, food to eat and people to relate to.

All human beings deserve health, safety, and a happy life. Don’t you think so?

Not pursuing a successful life means accepting that life is one economical ladder, either following the trends and competing or neglecting the basic needs and giving up.

Not pursuing the simplest need to be happy in this life is worse than chasing power over others or taking things from others.

Any newborn screaming out to the world has an innate desire to eat and drink, discover the world and play. Adults forget those essential rights.

It is important to satisfy our hunger for a happy life, even if we refute all the noise around this concept. We are brought into this life without our consent and shall pass through it inevitably. In this short life, we must strive for contentment so we can best live. We should fulfill our hunger and live the good life we wish for. It is important to live for purpose and chase it nonetheless. That is life. That is why we are here. And the question is, how?

Awareness

The skill we need is closer to us than we think. It is at the heart of who we are as a species. Humans have a conscious capacity to perceive the world differently than any other species on this planet. We have the capacity to think, write, and expend our abilities outside of our natural realm of action. We have built bicycles and cars, we designed buildings and bridges, we cured diseases; and we traveled to space. Furthermore, we are a superior species, but we are not in full control of the inside world. It is this inside voice that impacts at what level we operate in life. As some humans operate at the greatest possible level of invocation, contentment, and impact, others fight through the lowest, most challenging traits of several mental struggles.

We are not capable of fully controlling our conscious mind. There are parts of our being that slip away from us and impact our lives dramatically. We failed to find peace with ourselves and with others; we accelerated depression; we created economic imbalances, etc.

The essence of a successful life (emphasizing still using the word “success” to bring it back to its true meaning) is to find the true power of our awareness and empower its intelligence the right way.

A happy life starts and ends with the power of being aware of our being and getting the best out of our actions. One moment at a time, one day at a time, it builds up to a successful story worth telling.

I invite you today to stop the train of thoughts and actions for just 5 minutes. Step back from all that you do for a few minutes and look at your life as a stranger. Ask a simple question: Is it the life you want or the life you wish to have if you have enough money and the right conditions? Just resist the temptation to react to your social media feeds or emails or the tasks you need to do today.

Have a moment for yourself.

If being rich is all you want, which is fair and not wrong at all, start by having moments for yourself to then connect to that desire. It starts with that type of control and finding peace with yourself. This simple halt in your day is most of the time difficult and even scary if you are not used to it, because it brings in dissatisfaction at first. It brings a fear of disproportional reality to our dreams. We avoid it most of the time.

Every such moment brings a new world to your front conscious mind. Every moment is unique. Mastering the intelligence of awareness means getting the most out of each moment you live through every single day.
